The LCpl Worley Young Marines serves Norwalk-area families by helping youth ages 8–18 build leadership, confidence, discipline, and respect in a structured, supportive, drug-free environment.
Is the program co-ed?
Yes. The LCpl Worley Young Marines is open to both boys and girls (ages 8–18).
Is this a military recruiting program?
No. Young Marines is not military recruiting. Youth do not carry weapons and do not receive combat training. The program focuses on leadership, citizenship, teamwork, and living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
Does my child need to be in good standing at school?
Yes. We expect Young Marines to remain in good standing at school. To support this expectation, families provide copies of report cards so we can encourage accountability, goal-setting, and improvement.
Is this program only for “troubled youth”?
No. Young Marines is for youth who want structure, positive mentorship, and opportunities to grow. Many members join to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and be part of a team.

The Young Marines began in 1959 and has grown into a national youth education and service program with units across the United States and overseas. The program promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of youth, with a strong emphasis on character, leadership, and living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
